Karlie wearing Marple in Heirloom Silver with Faded Slate lenses – $145 WarbyParker.com

Every purchase from this collection will benefit Karlie’s chosen charity, Edible Schoolyard, that brings kitchens and gardens to low-income schools to help them learn healthy eating habits. And of course, as always, for every pair sold, a pair of glasses goes to someone who is in need. Don’t you love being a philanthropist while you shop?

If the fabulous Marple’s aren’t quite your speed, don’t worry. There are two other styles to fit your needs. Each style comes in two version, and all have the ability to define your Summertime looks. I know, deciding which pair is right for you may be hard, so I’ve put together a little guide to help you figure out which pair I think is the perfect fit for your personality.

Rosé wine lovers set sail on NYC’s Hudson River on June 13-14 to indulge in exquisite
wines and seriously good times. The occasion? The country’s first large-scale Rosé tasting event, La Nuit en Rosé. The sold out event, taking place during four 4-hour sessions over two days, gave the public and members of the press, the opportunity to taste 85 rosés crafted by 58 wineries from around the world. The vast selection ensured that wine connoisseurs and novices alike, would be able to discover rosés that seduced their tastebuds.

And as if sampling a bevy of rosé wines weren’t enough, La Nuit En Rosé up’d the experience with a hot DJ, beautiful views aboard the state of the art Hornblower Hybrid, and cuisine to compliment the wines including: a choice of ice creams (one rosé-infused) from The Tipsy Scoop; French pastries, canelés and financiers by Céline; oysters provided from the Brooklyn Oyster Party;  and some of the most delectable cheese and charcuterie We’ve ever experienced, from Vin sur Vingt, among others. We were there, and we will definitely not miss the next event, which promises to be bigger and even better. More info at http://www.nuitrose.com

Perlier has the answer to fighting Summer heat

perlier lemon sorbet crackling body waterIt won’t be long before the thick of Summer heat will be bearing down upon us, and you may be wondering what you could do to keep cool. Well this Lemon Sorbet Crackling Body Water from Perlier is unlike ANYTHING you’ve ever experienced. I can’t wait to use this unique body refresher on the most sweltering what-did-I-do-to-deserve this days.

This unique formula actually “crackles” when applied to the skin, giving you a nice cooling sensation.  It also moisturizes your skin and leaves behind a light lemony scent. Now, the directions suggest using it in the morning before heading out or in the evening after a hot day, but I’m ready to plop it in my bag for some spur of the moment goodness. Imagine having this cooler at your next picnic, or at the beach. Priceless!

Perlier Honey Miel Royal Elixir Face Youth Serum

Photo Jun 24, 2 56 56 PM Have you ever imagined Mother Nature might be off somewhere making you a special concoction to maintain your youth? Well your wish may have been answered by Perlier and their Honey Miel Royal Elixir. Made with fresh (not freeze dried) royal jelly and organic Italian Honey, this luxe serum leaves your skin look, refreshed and youthful.

Perlier1
Skin appears to have a more hydrated appearance immediately after use.

How it works:

The serum’s Royal Jelly from African bees stimulates collagen production and provides nutrients and anti-oxidative properties that are vital to your skin’s health. It’s the same stuff that keeps the Queen bee (who is fed the Jelly by her minions) alive 50 times longer than other bees. Pretty remarkable.

The experience:

This serum glides on almost like a gel. When applied, my skin has a plumper, more refreshed look. Its great for “waking up” the skin after a long day or restless night. In warmer weather, you could likely just use this serum alone with only an spf on top, since it’s pretty moisturizing. I’ve even used some on my cuticles and feet for an intense jolt of moisture.

While wrinkles aren’t an issue for me, I do have to battle against dull skin tone at times. The Royal Elixir Serum helps to inject my skin with a dose of vitality so that my makeup routine has a great foundation.

Rasberry Caprihiahs from Bugatti Bar

Celebrity chef David Burke opened his latest culinary destination, Fabrick, at Archer Hotel in Manhattan’s Garment District. The new restaurant’s location is partly responsible for inspiring the restaurants unique name. The eatery will be serving “rustic American” fare in surroundings that include an open kitchen, a wall lined in Himalayan salt bricks, a modern tavern feel, and colorful accents.

At the exclusive opening event, guests nibbled on samplings from the Fabrick menu including succulent Lobster dumplings, perfectly balanced Avocado Pana Cotta, and a raspberry filled donut that is out-of-this-world-addictive. Well really everything was delectable, but those three dishes are still dancing in my head. The ambiance in Fabrick’s dining area is warm yet airy, with an open feel that seems fitting for a date or an impressive client dinner. If by chance you just want to pop in for a drink, the adjacent Bugatti Bar can whip up an equally crafty cocktail for your sipping pleasure.

Will you kick your colorist to the curb for eSalon.com?

Photo Jun 03, 3 44 57 PM (1)Since I decided to break up with permanently straight hair, I also broke up with salons for the most part. Hair stylists and colorists are important and vital parts of the beauty scene, but I was just tired of salon trauma. Nothing personal guys. Unfortunately, the idea of home hair color makes me rethink that decision. I don’t want anything crazy. Just fresh, glossy, grey covering color. Is that asking for too much? eSalon.com has answered with a loud NO.

Photo Jun 03, 3 37 38 PM (1)Photo Jun 03, 3 43 09 PM (1)My package included the color kit and a free glossing enhancer, along with the optional coloring tools add-on. They even included a battery for the timer!

Photo Jun 04, 12 25 51 PMThe kit comes with really cute personalized instructions too.

My first kit from eSalon just arrived* after a simple online quiz and color selection process. All you need to do is answer a few questions about your hair, choose from the color options recommended for you, upload a few pics of you and your current hair state (optional), and order! eSalon will blend a bottle of custom hair color for you. Now don’t worry if you get confused or if you think you’ve chosen a ridiculous color. eSalons experienced color experts are available for consultation and will contact you if they think you’re selected color might be an issue (That’s why it’s a good idea to upload a few photos).

And now, you can order even more products like full-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioners, treatments and touch up wands, so your color stays looking great. I can’t wait to try my new customized color. I’ll be posting soon with the results. Get started with your hair quiz at eSalon.com and be on your way to at-home hair excellence.

Easy Summer Cocktails with Vita Frute by Veev

Bookmark and Share

VitaFrute1The only thing that’s better than a refreshing Summer cocktail, is a lazy Summer cocktail. You get both with Vita Frute by Veev! For your next BBQ, take the deliciously easy way out with these pre-crafted cocktails. They’re available in Organic Lemonade and Organic Cosmopolitan, and are under 125 calories per serving. The Organic Lemonade variety is my pick. I find it a bit smoother and maybe a tad less sweet, but they’re honestly both worth a try. Just mix with a little ice, and keep the party going. Take it easy this Summer and pick up a couple of Vita Frute Cocktails for your party.

Loreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara Review

Bookmark and Share

20140524-230514-83114693.jpgOh those big crazy Manga eyes. Ladies in Asian countries have popularized the comic inspired large eye look and now Loreal is bringing it to the American mainstream. Their new Voluminous Miss Manga claims to be able to magnify and amplify lashes with it’s 360 degree flexor brush.

I picked up a tube in blackest black for a good price at Harmon Beauty Discounts. I’ve been looking for a good drugstore mascara since I have up Lashblast (not cruelty free) and my current faves, Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara are both deluxe samples. I’m usually pretty thrifty when it comes to my lashes.

20140524-233420-84860476.jpgThe tube is nice to look at with a black base and metallic pink wand piece.

Photo May 27, 1 15 01 PMPhoto May 30, 9 15 27 PMWhat stood out:
The most noticeable things about Miss Manga are the extremely flexible brush head and erratic composition of the brush’s bristles. The flexible head allowed for good “wiggling” of the wand while applying coats. I can only assume the wild bush bristle placement contributes to a less uniform look, which is good if you’re into the trend of spidery lashes. It may also help with coating each lash fully. I’d consider this more of a lengthening mascara than volumizing, but you can judge for yourself from the before and after shots.

The Blackest Black shade has pretty good pigmentation, even against dark skin. Three to five coats are probably needed for the best results. It also has good staying power. Once dried, I didn’t experience any crumbling or flaking off at all, which is epic for Summertime humidity. I didn’t even use the waterproof formula, but it took an oil based makeup remover to get it all off properly.

The verdict: I’ll keep using Miss Manga as a good drug store solution. If you want length added to your lashes, but not necessarily volume. You’ll want to give this a try.
