My Etsy Craft Night Creation

earrings-DIY-1There’s nothing like taking on a new DIY project and actually finishing it the same day. But just between us, that almost never happens. Now, we can all complete this impossible task at an Etsy Craft Night at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn, NY. That’s right, the same company that helps crafters around the world share their handmade goods, invites the public into their home to create for themselves. The theme for this session was geometric earrings. Make sure you get there early for a good seat and first dibs on supplies. Oh yeah, this is all free by the way. Loves it! (more…)

My First NatureBox Has Arrived!

first-nature-boxNatureBox was kind enough to let me try 3-months of their healthy snack subscription box.
All I had to do was go to the site and pick out which 5 snacks I wanted delivered for my first month. There are over 100 snacks to choose from, so it was a bit tough, but I finally did it. I’ll be getting different snacks for each box and showing them off. That’s if I can take pictures before I eat them all.

Ring in Spring with Lifeway Kefir: Pt. 2 – Lemon Kefir Ice Cream

Bookmark and Share
Lemon-Kefir-Ice-creamAs promised, there is a delicious second installment into my Lifeway Kefir post. This is more of a homemade concoction made with the help of the original Lifeway Kefir plain cultured smoothie
and my new Cuisinart Ice Cream maker.

Lifeway-kefir-ice-cream-cuisinart
Lemon Kefir Ice Cream
(Recipe from chocolateandzucchini.com)

-1 2/3 cup Lifeway Lowfat Plain Kefir
-Zest from a large organic lemon, micro planed
or very finely chopped
-1/4 cup lemon juice (the large lemon listed about should
yield that amount, but get a second just in case)
-1/3 cup Swerve Sweetener
(Or to taste. You can also use honey, or maple syrup, etc.)
-Splash of lemon extract

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk until blended. It’s essential that your mix is super chilled so that it freezes in the ice cream canister. I put my mix in the freezer for short periods of time, stirring in between, before leaving it to sit overnight in the fridge. My canister had been in the freezer for a couple of days, so it was nice and frosty. Next time I might add a touch of salt so it stays soft longer. I love experimenting!

Ring in Spring with Lifeway Kefir: Pt. 1 – Frozen Kefir Bars

Bookmark and Share
Lifeway-Frozen-Kefir-BarsI can’t be the only one looking forward to lapping up Spring, instead of this yucky weather
we’ve been having in the Northeast. But its all cool. I’m looking ahead and thinking about the
perfect treats to enjoy as the days get warmer. If they ever get warmer.

Leading the pack is Lifeway Kefir and their refreshing, delicious, belly loving goodies.
First up: Lifeway Frozen Kefir Bars. Just like it’s drinkable counterpart, Lifeway Kefir bars contain
10 probiotics, are 99% Lactose free, gluten free, all natural, and made with no artificial growth hormones or rBST or rBGH. In case you weren’t keeping count, that a whole lot of amazing.

I’ve been enjoying the Vanilla and Coconut varieties lately, but I’ve also tried the Pear and Green Tea Rasberry flavors. They’re all delicious. I’m still working on identifying my favorite. It’s such a chore (sarcasm). But seriously, Lifeway Frozen Kefir Bars taste good and actually good for you. They may be putting the ice cream truck man to shame. Or maybe he can just get with the times and start selling some Frozen Kefir Bars. Hmm. There’s an idea!

If you’re drooling now, visit Lifeway.net to look at all the Lifeway Kefir goodies
and to seewhere you can get your own. Next up: Lemon Kefir Ice Cream. And it’s gooood!
