Teen Designers Shine at the Mandee/Vanilla Star “Back-To-School Block Party”

Recently, Mandee’s West 14th Street location hosted a block party celebrating the launch of Vanilla Star’s Back to School capsule collection by student designers from the High School of Fashion Industries here in NYC. Student teams designed original collections focusing on Mandee’s of-the-moment style and Vanilla Star’s “Smart Girls Rock!” vision.

I was so amazed to see the looks these teens put together. They were cutting edge, and totally wearable. I only wish I had this type of opportunity when I was younger. A high school focused on fashion design sounds like an absolute dream.

The block party was open to the public and drew crowds of fashion forward teens. On site were free eats from local food truck treasures El Carrito Rojo and The Treats Truck. Not to mention a DJ, manicures, and crazy giveaways like gift cards, Katy Perry concert tickets, and Laptops. Yes laptops! (I enviously saw a girl win one at the party)

Mandee continues to make its mark with young trendsetters craving style at affordable prices. I’ve noticed that they’ve been committed to stepping up their selection with junior brands like Vanilla Star, and this new collection from the HSFI kids is a perfect fit. By the way, 10% of the proceeds will be donated by Mandee to HSFI to support student programs.

In general, Mandee has many great pieces to plump up your wardrobe including accessories and shoes. I even saw a pair of drool worthy Steve Madden platforms. Of course, you know I couldn’t leave without a great deal, so I picked up this little number above that I’ll be rocking this Fall. Love that print!
