Health Focus Friday: Delish times at the NYC Healthy Bites #Tastytweetup

Husband and wife founders of NYC Healthy Bites, Katherine Jankovic and Djordje Jankovic

The common thought is that healthy food sucks. And who can blame folks for having that thought, with all the this “free” and that “free” marketing in the mix. It’s easy to forget that healthy food can start with just great ingredients.

The tasty Diablo dog. This baby is topped with a cilantro sauce that is suuuper tasty

I recently joined Goldenmedia Relations for their NYC Healthy Bites #TastyTweetup at the Garmento Lab Showroom. A bunch of bloggers were invited to try out the goods that this local food truck is serving around town.

It starts with the basic idea of a hot dog, but amped up a bit. First you choose your dog (Organic beef or chicken dog, sweet Italian chicken or spicy jalapeno sausage, or vegan sausage), then your bun (classic or whole wheat), and finally the fun begins as you choose your style. There are currently 6 dog styles available. I tried the Diablo dog and the Greek dog.

The cool Greek dog includes feta and a refreshing cucumber sauce. Love!

Just a few of the dog styles you can create at the NYC Healthy Bites cart.

Both were insanely delicious and fresh tasting. Absolutely worthy of food truck stalking in my opinion. The event was also sponsored by Vita Coco and PopChips.

I haven’t written about this yet, but I’ve recently lost a significant amount of weight on a diet. I was so glad to see that the NYC Healthy Bites crew had whole wheat buns and good wholesome toppings to work with my new eating style. The company was started by husband and wife team, Katherine Jankovic and Djordje (George) Jankovic of Queens, NY. They are quite adorable and providing quality eats for the city too.

The NYC Healthy Bites cart can be seen around the city daily from 11am -7pm seven days a week. Often around the Columbus Circle area. If you need a fix, stalk them with me on their Twitter page @nychealthybites.
